Cupid

You stand on the roof top, looking down at your two targets.  The woman is bundled up tightly against the harsh winter cold.  She has on a coat, scarf, gloves and a knitted hat.  Her cheeks are flushed and puffs of air can be seen leaving her lips as her warm breath crystallizes in the air in front of her.  The man is walking straight toward her, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his own coat.  The two have yet to see each other, but you know the moment will soon occur.

You pull a red tipped arrow from your quiver and notch it into your bow.  Raising your arms, you take your sights and pull the string back.  Your practiced muscles help to hold the bow and arrow steady as you wait for the right moment to strike.

The two approach one another and as soon as they notice the presence in front of them, they simultaneous begin to look up.  You release the arrow; with the intention of getting it to reach them the moment eye contact is made.  Love at first sight was your specialty, after all…

However, just a moment before it reaches them, a blue blur flies passed and the arrow hits a different target.

“What the-?” you let out.

You next hear a male cry out, “Ow!”

Focusing on your mission first, you are relieved to see that the woman slipped on some freshly made ice and the man had caught her.  You quickly notch a new arrow and shoot them as they gaze into each other eyes.  The magical arrow blasts through the two of them, before disappearing.  It wasn’t exactly the moment you would have preferred, but it was good enough.  Letting out a relieved sigh when you see them smile at each other, you fly off the roof to go figure out what you actually hit the first time.

Going around the corner of the couple, you find someone standing there holding onto your arrow.  He’s wearing brown pants and a bright blue frosted hoodie.

“Oh, for the love of Eos… Frost!”  You march up to him and snatch the arrow back.  Because he was another magical being, the arrow stayed in its solid form and actually hit him instead of going through him.  “Nice flying, ace!  You could have seriously messed things up for me!” you yell at him.

“You shot me!  Do you have any idea how much that hurt, you…” his voice fades off when the two of you make eye contact.

You frown when you notice his eyes cloud over.  The anger fades from his face as a look of appreciation replaces it.  His sapphire gaze takes you in, looking at you from head to toe.  You are wearing a tight red bandeau styled top with white frills on the upper and lower edges, and a matching red skirt.  As a belt you have on a big pink ribbon with a bow just under your exposed midriff.  White thigh high stockings encase your legs as well as knee high, lace up, combat boots.

“Well, well, well… What do we have here?” his voice takes on a charming sort of quality as he smirks confidently down at you.  “Who knew Cupid was such a beauty?”

You raise an eyebrow at his drastic change in personality.  And then it hits you.  He got shot with an arrow and you’re the first one he made eye contact with.  “Are you… falling in love with me?” you ask, incredulous.

His smirk turns into a lazy smile.  “I’m not sure.  I’ve never been in love before.”  He takes another step toward you.   “Is that what this feels like?”

You let out a short giggle and then slap a hand over your mouth.  Unable to control it, you begin to bust up laughing, not even able to take him seriously.  “Oh my gosh!  This is gold!  The other Cupid girls have been trying to get you for years!  And then, here you are, flying into my arrow on complete accident!  Oh, this is just too funny!”  You can’t get yourself to stop laughing and tears are actually forming in your eyes.

“You have a nice laugh,” he tells you, oblivious to what you’re actually saying.

After you’ve calmed down a little, you let out a happy sigh.  “Thanks,” you respond with a smile.

“So, little Miss Cupid…  Do you have a name?” he asks with a seductive lilt in his voice.

You give him an amused look, finding a lot of entertainment in the bizarre way he’s acting.  “It’s (Name).”

“(Name),” he repeats as if he’s testing it out.  The way your name seems to just roll off his tongue makes your heart flutter.

You notice his eyes dip down to look at your mouth before he leans in.  You respond by leaning back and putting a hand on his chest.  “What are you doing?” you ask, beginning to take a step back.  Suddenly, this doesn’t seem as funny as before.

He hooks his staff around your waist and pulls you closer.  “What does it look like I’m doing?”  His gaze is still fixated on your lips and he curls his arm around you, trapping you next to his body.

Before you can even respond, he leans his head down and captures your lips with his own.  Your eyes go wide and you aren’t sure what to do.  Like most of the females in the magical world, you definitely found Jack Frost to be very attractive.  However, you had always thought that you would be more immune to his charms than the others.  Even though you were a Cupid, you had never really been concerned for your own love, choosing instead to focus on bringing love to others.  It was easier to pretend that being alone didn’t bother you when you focused more on your work.

The feeling of his cool, firm lips against yours was beginning to change your mind, though.  You hesitantly begin to respond to the kiss and close your eyes.  You had always seen couples kiss, but never having done it yourself, you could never imagine how good it would actually feel.  Jack’s free hand caresses your neck before his fingers move into your hair to cradle the back of your head.  Your hands clench at the fabric of his sweatshirt, not wanting to pull away.

Needing to catch your breath, you have to separate.  Your breath mingles with Jack’s as the two of you pant heavily.  You gasp and step away from him when you fully realize what just happened.  The wheels in your brain begin to spin a hundred rounds per second as you start to over think everything.

“This is wrong.  That arrow wasn’t meant for you.  You shouldn’t have… I shouldn’t…” you lift a shaky hand to your lip as the full ramifications of your actions begin to settle in.  “I-I need to go.”  Turning on your heel, you take off down the street.  With a burst of energy, you push off against the ground and take flight.

“Hey!  Wait!”  With a startled gasp, you look over your shoulder to see Jack chasing after you.

“Leave me alone, Jack!” you tell him, flying even faster.  You weave in and out of alleyways, and over different buildings, trying to lose him.  He chases after you for a good while.  You look over your shoulder again and breathe a sigh of relief when you no longer see him.  Your relief is cut short when you feel yourself run into something.  A strong pair of arms wraps around you and you look up to find yourself staring into a pair of ice blue eyes.

“Caught you,” he grins and you realize that this was all just a game to him.

You struggle against his grip, “Let me go!”

His arms tighten even more as he smirks.  “Now why would I do that when I like you so much right where you are?”  You can feel the hard plains of his chest underneath his sweatshirt press firmly against yours as he flies the two of you up to the top of a skyscraper.  He sets you down on your feet, but doesn’t let you go.  “Why would you run away from me?” he asks, tilting his head to the side.

“This isn’t you, Jack.  It’s all a mistake.  You’re not supposed to be feeling this way.”  You put your hands against his chest to try to push him away.

He still won’t let you go, though.  “What if I like feeling this way?” he counters, leaning in.

Your back arches as you try to keep the distance between the two of you.  “Just stop.  Please.”  You frown, feeling a lump forming in your throat.

Jack frowns as well when he notices tears forming in the corner of your eyes.  “I’m making you sad,” his brow furrows in confusion.  His grip loosens enough for you to break away and take a step back.

You sniff, trying to keep your emotions in check.  “That was my first kiss, Jack.  500 years and you just took it.  How is that fair?”  You don’t even realize that you’ve started crying until Jack reaches a hand out to wipe your tears with his thumb.

His eyes are sad as he looks down at you.  “I am so sorry.  I didn’t know… How can I fix this?  Just tell me, I’ll do anything,” he asks suddenly.

You look up at him in surprise.  “This isn’t something you can just fix, Jack.”  You shake your head at him.  You gasp when your words makes something click in the back of your mind.  “Fix…?  The black arrow!”  You reach back into your quiver and pull out the one arrow you’ve never had to use.

Jack stares at it warily, “What is that?”

“It corrects mistakes.  I’ve never missed before, so I’ve never had to use it.  Every once in a while a Cupid might hit the wrong person or they don’t make eye contact, for whatever reason.  If the love isn’t true, the black arrow will reverse the effects.  This fixes everything!  I just need to get you once more, and then you’ll go back to normal.”

Jack takes a few steps back.  “And if I don’t want you to shoot me?” he asks hesitantly.

You frown at his reaction.  “Jack, these feeling you’re having…  They’re not real.  There is a girl out there for you, somewhere, but it’s not me,” you try to explain to him.

He shakes his head and gives you a determined look.  “How do you know that?  What if it’s not a mistake?  What if it is you?”

Your heart clenches and you know there is a part of you that wishes his words could be true, but you know they’re not.  “I’m sorry, Jack.  But this is for your own good.”  Your hands shake as you notch the arrow into your bow.

Jack takes a few more steps away from you.  “I’m not going to let you shoot me.”

“Don’t make this harder than it has to be.”

Your words ignite a storm of emotions behind his eyes before he smirks mischievously at you.  He slowly walks over to the edge of the building.  “Well then.  If we’re really going to do this… Catch me if you can.”

“Jack, don’t you dare,” you warn, lifting your bow and aiming.  But it’s too late; he’s already fallen off the edge.  “Jack!”  You run to the edge and dive over after him.

The two of you fall for a while, just letting gravity guide you.  You tighten your grip on your bow when Jack takes a sharp left.  You chase after him, weaving once more through the buildings of the city.

“Jack, stop!  This isn’t a game!” you try to call after him.

He glances back at you and laughs before taking off even faster.  You groan in frustration and try to keep up.  He takes a sharp turn skyward and you quickly take your chance.  Aiming up, you set him in your sights and release.  The arrow speeds forward, but at the very last second, Jack twists and the arrow shoots passed him.

With a short laugh, he stops and turns to face you, hovering mid air.  “You missed,” he smirks.

You stop and hover just below him.  As an advanced arrowette, you had already mastered the ability of controlling your arrows mid-flight.  It was an ability that took some time to develop, but you had been at this for many years, so it was easy for you.  Because Jack is distracted by his seeming victory, he doesn’t notice the arrow arcing through the air and coming back at him from behind.  You give him a pained look.  “I’m so sorry, Jack,” you tell him.

He gives you a look of confusion in return before the black arrow slams into the back of his shoulder.  You wince at its impact, while Jack’s eyes go wide.  After another second, his face goes blank before his head falls forward and his bangs shield his expression.

Your heart beats rapidly in your chest as you fly closer to him.  “Jack?” you ask hesitantly.

His head slowly lifts back up and when your eyes connect, you can practically see the fire blazing inside him.  “You shot me, again?!  What is your problem?”  You roll your eyes.  Yup, he was back to normal.  Flying behind him, you pull the arrow out.  “Ow!”

“Don’t be such a baby, Jack.  This is all your fault, anyways.  Maybe if you had been paying more attention, you wouldn’t have been shot the first time.  And if you weren’t shot the first time, I wouldn’t have had to shoot you the second time.  So, by default… this is on you as well,” you say indicating to the black arrow.  You try to mask the pain inside you as you tuck the arrow back into your quiver.

“Maybe it’s you who needs to pay more attention.  If you had seen me coming, you wouldn’t have shot while I was in the way.”

You let out a low sigh, “We could go at this all day, Jack, but I have things to do.”  You put an end to the conversation by turning and flying off.

You find yourself landing back up on the skyscraper you had been on earlier.  You stand at the edge, looking out at the view.  On one side of the city, the sun was beginning to set.  On the other side, the moon was rising up.  You glare over at the large white ball in the sky.

“Are you happy?” you say out loud, talking to the man in the moon.  “500 years, I’ve been doing this for you.  You told me that love was out there for everyone and that it was my job to help them find it.  But what about me?  Who’s supposed to help me?” your voice begins to shake as tears well up in your eyes.  “Every day, I watch people fall in love and the most amazing amount of happiness and joy just pours out of them.  Don’t I get to experience that?  Or am I just supposed to be satisfied by experiencing it second hand?  How can you expect me to do this for so long and not get jealous?  And then, all of a sudden, you go and pull this stunt?!  You dangle it right in front of me!  The arrow hits… and he falls in love… but it’s not even real.”  You fall to your knees, your tears dripping down your face.  “You knew I would have to hit him with the black arrow.  But first you let me have a taste of what it could feel like.  Why would you do that?  Is this my punishment?  For having these feelings I shouldn’t be having?”  Your voice cracks as you sob.  “If that’s how you’re going to play this game, then I don’t want to play anymore!”  You take your bow and toss it to the side.  You cradle your arms around your body, feeling like it’s the only way you can stay together.  “I can’t do this anymore!  I don’t want to be alone!”

“You don’t have to be.”

With a gasp, you open your eyes and look over your shoulder.  “Jack…”

He lands next to you and kneels down.  Reaching a hand out he caresses your cheek and uses his thumb to dry your tears.  “Stay with me,” he whispers softly to you, leaning in close.  “Be with me.”  His lips caress yours once more.  Your breath catches in your throat as he presses more firmly against you.  One last tear falls out of the corner of your eye as you close them and kiss him back.

His lips are cold, but the feelings that you get inside are so warm that you don’t want to stop.  Your hands reach up to comb through his messy white hair.  His arms wrap around you and hold you close.  When he pulls back he rests his forehead against yours.

“I don’t understand,” you whisper to him.  “I shot you again, why are you still acting like this?”

“You said the black arrow would only work if the love wasn’t true.  The thing is… I don’t think it worked.  I still want this.  I still want you,” he explains.

Your arms wrap around his torso and your fingers clench at his jacket.  “You’re not playing a trick on me, right, Jack?” you ask, not entirely believing that this could be real.

He exhales in a short laugh and gives you a tender smile, “No, I wouldn’t ever joke about something like this.”

You give him a relieved smile and stretch up to kiss him again.  Your lips mold perfectly to his and you finally realize that there is no way that this could be a mistake.  It feels too right to be anything else.  “I like kissing you,” you tell him honestly, after pulling away.

He chuckles and kisses your forehead.  “I think you’re supposed to.  Does this mean you’re not mad at me any more for stealing your first kiss?”

You smile and shake your head.  “I was trying to save it.  Hoping that one day I’d finally get to experience loving someone and I’d get to share it with him.  I guess I got my wish, I just didn’t know it at the time.”

Jack pushes a lock of hair out of your face and tucks it behind your ear.  “Does that mean you love me back?”

Your heart pounds in your chest as you look deeply into his eyes.  “Yes,” you respond without hesitation.  “I love you, Jack.”

He smiles and leans in to give you a sweet kiss.  “I love you, too, (Name).  And despite how much it hurt, I’m glad you hit me with your arrow.”

You raise an amused eyebrow, “Um, excuse me.  I didn’t hit you with it.  You ran into it, remember?”

He chuckles, “Are we really going to get into this argument again?”

“Only if you won’t admit to the truth,” you tease.

You squeak when Jack pushes you onto your back as he holds himself over you.  “Last one to pull out of the kiss wins the argument?” he suggests.

You laugh, “Everything is always a game with you!”

“Life is more fun that way,” he tells you, like it’s obvious.

You can’t help but grin up at him.  “Alright, then.  You’re on, Mr. Frost.”

“Sure thing, Miss Cupid.”  He leans down to brush his nose against yours.  “I think this is going to be my new favorite game,” he whispers to you, his breath fanning across your face.  And then his lips are once against pressed to yours.  Your fingers automatically wrap into his hair as you have no intention of pulling away.
SURPRISE!!! It's February, and I decided to shake things upShake Things Up (haha, get it?) by writing out a Jack Frost fic.  He's a major cutie, though I didn't obsess over him  quite as much as I have been with these Hamada boys.  Anyways, I watched ROTG a few weeks ago after not seeing it for a while and I came up with a few ideas.  Don't expect them to be coming out very often though.
Currently working on a Tadashi Valentine's Day one, but I'm also super busy with school (As I'm sure some of you could tell when I didn't reply to your comments until like a week later.  Sorry!)
Jack Frost and ROTG belongs to Dreamworks
